What is an Activity
Activities or events are conducted by a Council or District committee in coordination with the Council and District program committees. Some activities have been held regularly at the Council or District level and will have pre-existing budgets, plans and expectations, while others are just at the idea stage.
- For suggested events, see the Activities and Civic Service Committee Guide.
- For suggested trainings, see Guide to Leader Training.
- For suggested Outdoor Program events, see the https://www.scouting.org/outdoor-programs/
Activities and events have specific and well-defined objectives. These objectives can include, but are not limited to:
- providing participants the opportunity to complete requirements
- earning advancements
- experiencing Scout fellowship
- gaining skill or leadership development
- and just having Scouting fun
If the District or Council Committee want to host a new Activity (not one of the those currently listed on the Council Calendar, a proposal must be approved 120 days before the event is to occur. Please submit the proposal to the following:
- District Events – Director of Field Services (find the email to the DFS by clicking here)
- Council Events – Director of Support Services (find the email to the DSS by clicking here)
A template New Activity Proposal is available here or in the Quicklinks.
