Tools for Friends of Scouting campaigns

Thank you for serving in a leadership role with our Friends of Scouting (FOS) campaign. No matter the job, you are playing an important part in ensuring the health and success of the Scouting program across all 15 counties across our council.

Friends of Scouting is an annual opportunity for families, friends, alumni, businesses, and community organizations invest in our council’s efforts to support and grow Scouting across Central Texas. People will give to Friends of Scouting if asked. That’s where we need your help: asking. As a Friends of Scouting presenter, you are helping us educate people about why their Friends of Scouting gift is important and how the money they give is used.

If you can’t answer the question, “Why give to Friends of Scouting?” then you can’t ask anyone to give.

Watch this video, and then use it to help others understand why they should consider giving:

  • To use this video, either use the YouTube link in an email/message or embed the video on your unit/district website.
  • If you’d like a copy of the video to use in original social media posts or to show in an environment where you don’t have internet access, click here to download the video from Dropbox.

Why do we need FOS Presenters?

Our council serves 15 counties and it’s hard to be everywhere at the same time. The more people that are involved, the more likely it is that we’ll ask every family in our council to consider giving. Plus, communication is about trust. Scouting leaders and families are more likely to trust and listen to someone they recognize from their community instead of someone from a different town or district (no matter how awesome a volunteer they are).

OK, what do I do?

Pretty simple, really. You agree to do a 3-5 minute presentation at a unit meeting or gathering where all families are present. You send them an email before and after you do the presentation. You turn in any donations and/or completed pledge cards from your presentation to your district’s Family FOS Chair. Check the Quick Links section of this page for additional detail.

Who else is doing this?

A pretty awesome group of Scouters! Everyone listed below, like you, has agreed to give a little time to make sure Scouting across Central Texas is successful this year and has the resources it needs:
