International Scouting
Founded in England in 1907 by Sir Robert S.S. Baden-Powell, Scouting has become the world’s leading educational youth movement dedicated to, “Creating a Better World.” The World Organization of Scout Movement empowers 57 million young people and volunteers to be active global citizens and agents of change in their communities. Connected through 174 National Scout Organizations, this movement delivers quality Scouting programs, events and initiatives locally and internationally.
Our council’s International Committee seeks to promote the connection between our Scouting community and Scouts around the world.
What is International Scouting?

Capitol Area Council Young Philanthropist Awards
The Capitol Area Council International Committee wishes to foster the international Scouting philanthropy of young adults ages 18-26 years old from our Scouting community. We also seek to promote engagement of these members with youth from around the world. In response, we have established the Capitol Area Council Young Philanthropist Awards which provide memberships to the World Scout Foundation and Interamerican Scout Foundation.
The Young Baden-Powell Fellowship is to recognize young adult Scouts/Scouters who demonstrate a spirit of philanthropy in the World Scouting Community. The Capitol Area Council International Committee will honor up to one recipient each year by covering the $1000 membership fee to the Young Baden-Powell Fellowship with the World Scout Foundation. Learn more at https://worldscoutfoundation.org/
The Youth Order of the Condor Fellowship is to recognize young adult Scouts/Scouters who demonstrate a spirit of philanthropy in the World Scouting community, specifically in the InterAmerican region communities. The Capitol Area Council International Committee will honor up to three recipients each year by covering the $150 membership fee to the Youth Order of the Condor Fellowship with the Interamerican Scout Foundation. Learn more at https://iscoutfoundation.org
The recipients will be recognized at our annual council Awards Recognition and Reception on March 22, 2025.
Applications for awards for 2025 are available now and will be accepted until January 31, 2025.
Scouts Trash the Trash Day 2025
May 3, 2025
Scouts around the world will be working with a friend and cleaning up our planet together on first weekend of May! Arrange your own group clean up by identifying a location, inviting friends and Scouts and showing up! Register for a patch to commemorate your contribution to “Creating a Better World!” Or, participate in the organized cleanup at Zilker Park.
Jamboree on the Air (JOTA)-Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI)
October TBA, 2025
Held annually on the third weekend of October, Jamboree-on-the-Internet (JOTI) and Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) is a virtual gathering of Scouts sponsored by the World Organization of the Scout Movement. JOTA-JOTI utilizes the internet and amateur radios to link Scouts from around the world. Each year, our International Committee offers an International Scouting event which includes a midway featuring world Scouting events and programs, Zoom sessions with Scouts in other countries, International Foods and more!
Capitol Area Council International Committee
The International Committee relies on a dynamic, dedicated, and diverse group of volunteers to bring an international experience to Scouts in our council. Everyone has something to contribute to the group’s diversity. The International Committee is always looking for people interested in expanding their knowledge about a culture other than their own. Whether you have an international experience to share, or simply want to learn more about international Scouting, we could use your participation. The focus of the international committee is to raise awareness for the worldwide movement of Scouting through:
- Unit activities
- Presentations and displays at council and district events
- Facilitating contacts with foreign Scouts and Scouters
- Broadcasting information on international Scouting happenings
- Offering support and resources for CAC Scouts and Scouters who are interested in participating in International Scouting.
Meetings are generally held the fourth Sunday of the month at 4:00 pm via Zoom
International Scouting Flyer
Our council’s International Committee has compiled a handy flyer that summarizes the various International Scouting offerings currently available. These include: 1. Awards and Merit Badges, 2. Travel and Events, 3. Committee Hosted Events, and 4. World Scouting Programs.
