Citizenship in Society Merit Badge
Citizenship in Society is an Eagle required merit badge for youth in the Scouts BSA program. The merit badge is focused on a journey of self-discovery concerning topics around diversity, equity, and belonging, and how those discussions benefit society through the lens of the Scout Oath and Law. All key facts and information about this merit badge can be found at http://www.scouting.org/dei.
To become a counselor for this merit badge in our council, an adult volunteer must complete the following:
- Scouting America’s Merit Badge Counselor “position specific” training found on my.scouting.org.
- Scouting America’s “Diversity, Equity, and Belonging in Scouting” volunteer training (SCO 1800) found in the “Scouting America Learn Center” at my.scouting.org.
- Contact your district Advancement Chair, who will put you in touch with an existing Citizenship in Society Merit Badge Counselor. The counselor will instruct you in the mechanics of instructing Scouts for this merit badge.
Only those volunteers completing the above requirements will be certified in our council to sign off on requirements or completion of the Citizenship in Society Merit Badge.
If you have any questions, please contact our council’s Advancement Chair.
