Unit Bank Accounts
Scouting units chartered by our council (Scouting America Capitol Area Council in Austin/Central Texas) need an official letter to create a new bank account using our council’s tax ID number (EIN).
Once we have the letter, where should we go to create a unit account?

How do we get a letter to open a unit account?
Please review the unit signer requirements and use the “Unit Bank Account Request Form” below to request unit documentation. Allow up to three (3) business days for processing.
Unit signer requirements:
- Two (2) signers minimum
- Units may request up to five (5) signers
- Committee Chair must be one of the signers
- All signers must be registered adult members in the unit
- No signers may be related, whether by blood or marriage
- No signers may be in the same household
- No employee of the Capitol Area Council may be on the unit bank account
