What is an activity or event committee?
All events are run by a volunteer committee headed by a committee chair and comprised of four or more volunteers. The committee itself may then administer the event, or the committee may have subcommittees that administer the event.
All Council and District Committee members should aim to serve in a position for 3-5 years. After this time, it is best for the committee and the volunteer to move to a new position.
Where does my committee fit into the overall structure of the Council?

- Review the activity and Position Descriptions of need positions with Staff Advisor.

- Reach out to the person and ask “Would you serve if asked”?
- If they say no, thank them for their consideration and all they do for Scouting.
- If they say yes, contact the event Staff Advisor to review and consider potential recruits.
- After Staff Advisor approval, officially ask if the person will serve in the position.
- Provide the person time to consider the offer and discuss with their family.
- Send them the position description and answer any questions they may have. Include the event Staff Advisor on communications.
